PPF Management vs Tekmetric

Built around mechanical work orders + DVIs. PPF, tint, and ceramic shops end up using free-text fields and external spreadsheets to fill the gaps.

The honest take

What Tekmetric does well

Strong cloud platform for independent auto-repair shops. Clean modern UI, solid scheduling, mature parts ordering integrations with NAPA / WorldPac.

Honest comparison — table-stakes both platforms cover, plus the differentiators that matter for paint protection shops.

CapabilityPPF MgmtTekmetric
Per-panel coverage map (clickable car diagram)
Tekmetric's DVI captures damage; it doesn't quote panel-by-panel coverage. PPF advisors quote panels — the diagram should match the quote.
PPF / Tint / Ceramic package quoting engine
Roll-level inventory + warranty batch lookup
Tekmetric tracks parts SKUs but not film batch/lot identifiers. Shops typically maintain a separate Google Sheet for batch-to-job traceability.

Partial
Cure-time aware scheduling (block washes after PPF install)
On the PPF Management roadmap (Tier 1 #5). Tekmetric's scheduler doesn't model cure windows.
Partial
Dealership / wholesale CRM with tiered pricing
QuickBooks Online sync
Kanban-style job board
Customer database with vehicle history
Photo inspections + walk-arounds
Multi-location support
Per-location pricing (unlimited users)
Tekmetric charges per user. Add 4 installers, your monthly bill goes up — even if those installers each work 25 hours.

Pricing context: Per-user pricing, plans publicly cited at $179–439 per month. Add-ons (texting, additional integrations) layered on top. (Last verified: April 2026.)

Three things you can't do on Tekmetric

Specific, concrete differentiators — no generic “more powerful” marketing fluff.

1

DVI ≠ PPF coverage quote

Tekmetric's Digital Vehicle Inspection shines for an oil-change shop documenting brake wear. PPF shops aren't doing DVIs — they're quoting which panels get film. PPF Management gives advisors a coverage-map picker that maps directly to estimate line items, so the customer sees exactly what they're paying for.

2

Inventory built for film, not tire stems

Generic auto-shop inventory thinks in part numbers — one-to-one with a SKU on a rack. Film is sold in linear feet off a roll, with batch numbers you'll need three months later when a warranty claim comes back. PPF Management is the only platform that makes that warranty trace a one-search lookup.

3

We charge per location. You hire freely.

Tekmetric's $179–439 per-user-per-month pricing means every new installer is a recurring tax. PPF Management is a flat per-location fee, unlimited users. A 6-installer shop on Tekmetric Pro tier pays roughly 9× what they'd pay us.

Switching from Tekmetric is a Saturday afternoon

We built PPF Management with switching in mind. CSV import for customers + vehicles + inventory is in the product today. For shops migrating with 3+ years of history, we offer a white-glove migration service free for the first 50 shops — we'll pull your data, map it, and have you running on PPF Management without losing a single record.
